The main objectives of a Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology course are to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye conditions, operating ophthalmic equipment, and managing patient care. In this modern world, kidney problems are very common which are primary or secondary to various conditions like diabetes, hypertension, adverse effects of drugs, alcoholism, poor food habits and life style etc. Role of dialysis technician is to help the patient to separate the toxic waste and harmful metabolites or chemicals from their blood (which the kidneys normally do) through various dialyzers or procedures.

A Diploma in Dialysis Technology aims to equips students with the skill set that is demanded of a Dialysis technician who can take up the responsibility in the domain with effective ease. This is a regular theory & practical oriented program. The mode of teaching will be in the form of regular classrooms, lectures / demonstrations supplemented by handouts, manuals, brochures, checklists, performance with supervised clinical practices.

MLT is a branch of medical science responsible for performing laboratory investigations relating to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. There’s a worldwide shortage of medical laboratory technologists, as the technologist’s role will continue to change and expand. To fill this space in market, GU has developed a course “Diploma in Medical Laboratory technology (DMLT)” with a basic aim is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as skilled medical laboratory technicians in various healthcare settings. This includes hands-on training in laboratory techniques, sample analysis, and the use of medical laboratory equipment.

The program also aims to develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, ensuring graduates are proficient in laboratory safety, quality control, and ethical considerations.

The primary objectives of a Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) program are to provide in-depth knowledge of operation theatre protocols, sterilization techniques, and surgical procedures. The main aim will be to train candidates in the practice of technical assistance in operation theatre techniques relevant to various surgical specialties and intensive care medicine. Along with didactic teaching, major stress will be laid on practical training in operation theatre techniques and handling of work in intensive care units by rotating them to different specialty theatres and ICU.

The program also focuses on developing skilled professionals who can assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses in operation theatres, enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills for emergencies, and providing practical training and hands-on experience in hospitals and medical institutions.

The basic Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery is geared to the health needs of the individuals, family, community and the country at large. The aims of the General Nursing and Midwifery programme are:

1. To prepare nurses with a sound educational programme in nursing to enable them to function as efficient members of the health team, beginning with the competencies for first level positions in all kinds of health care settings.

2. To help nurses develop an ability to co-operate and co-ordinate with members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and rehabilitation of the sick.

3. To help nurses in their personal and professional development, so that they are able to make maximum contribution to the society as useful and productive individuals, citizens as well as efficient nurses.

4. To serve as a base for further professional education and specialization in nursing.

5. To prepare nurses to keep pace with latest professional and technological developments and use these for providing nursing care service.

The main objectives of a D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy) course are to provide students with foundational knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, equip them with practical skills, and prepare them for entry-level roles in the pharmacy profession. Specifically, the course aims to develop competent pharmacists capable of dispensing medications, providing patient counseling, and contributing to the healthcare system
