Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance at Geetanjali Institute of Pharmacy is a centre of academic excellence and research innovation, committed to producing competent pharmaceutical professionals and skilled researchers. With a mission to bridge academic knowledge and industry expectations, the department offers a robust curriculum supported by modern infrastructure, advanced instrumentation, and outcome-driven teaching practices. Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories designed to cater to the practical needs of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research scholars. These laboratories house sophisticated analytical instruments such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, FTIR, melting point apparatus,Potentiometer,pH meters, and Karl Fischer titration units. These facilities allow students to gain hands-on experience with industry-relevant techniques and analytical procedures, fostering a deep understanding of pharmaceutical chemistry and quality assurance principles. In the area of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the focus lies on drug design, synthesis, analytical method development, and structure elucidation. Students are actively involved in laboratory synthesis, impurity profiling, and advanced spectroscopic techniques under the mentorship of highly qualified faculty. The Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance division prepares students for real-world challenges in pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulatory affairs. With an emphasis on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and global regulatory guidelines (USFDA, ICH, WHO), the department trains students in quality control, documentation, validation, and process audits. A Quality by Design (QbD) framework is actively integrated into the teaching methodology, where students are guided to use scientific and statistical tools like Design of Experiments (DoE) to develop optimized pharmaceutical formulations and manufacturing processes. The department adopts Outcome-Based Education (OBE), ensuring that learning is aligned with clearly defined academic and professional goals. Regular industrial visits, internships, expert guest lectures, and national/international seminars enrich the academic experience and build strong industry connections. Students are also encouraged to participate in poster presentations, model exhibitions, scientific quizzes, and research competitions at various levels.Digital learning tools, ICT-enabled classrooms, and virtual labs further enhance the teaching-learning experience. We continuously strive to provide our students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to excel in academia, industry, and research.

Department of Pharmacy Practice

The Department of Pharmacy Practice is working with Pharm D. since 2017 and Pharm D. Post Baccalaureate since 2019 training pharmacy students towards advancement of health and pharmacist-provided patient care through innovative pharmacy education, practice models and research. Pharm. D students from the second year onwards undergo hospital training, where they receive hands-on training and develop clinical skills through bedside teaching methods. Pharmacy Practice Services involves patient-focused clinical activities to enhance medication use, to provide better patient care and health outcomes.

It provides candidates with the skills and knowledge of various practices carried out in Clinical, Hospital and Community programmes. The Department has trained and skilled staff with adequate number of computers and broadband facility. The department supports the needs of the physicians as well as patients by providing information about medication therapy, drug information, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, patient counseling, health surveys, health checkup and community program. The faculties provide professional educational opportunities for students by Case-based learning, Problem-based learning, Team-based learning, Simulation and lab experiences and teaching subjects like Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacology, Community-Hospital-Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical Research and Clinical Epidemiology which enable them to practice and provide pharmaceutical care.
